Helene F. Campbell of 217 N. Whitted St. departed this life Saturday, February 20, 2010. A native of Dallas, NC she was a daughter of the late Charles and Nellie Davenport Falls.
Helene retired from GE Lighting after a number of years of service. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Daughters of Isis 131, Diamond Circle 263, Carnation Club, Democratic Women, volunteered as a precinct worker, Pink Ladies of Pardee Hospital and board of directors of the Salvation Army.
She leaves to cherish her memory daughters, Peggye J. Campbell and Millicent C. Campbell of Charlotte, and Rita N. Campbell of Greensboro; granddaughters, Millicent and Samone , other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Mills Campbell and her daughter Edwina C. Verbal.
Services will be held Tuesday at 1 PM in the Star of Bethel Baptist Church of which she was a usher, Deaconess, Missionary and Sunday school teacher. Rev. C. E. Roe will officiate and burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery. The body will lie in state an hour prior to services.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
