I was raised in Peekskill, N. Y., I was a troubled youth growing up. Bennie took time with me, helped to keep me out of trouble, at a very young aged, i met a lot of professional basketball players at rucker park in the Bronx where Bennie played, he also took me on trips to Bob couseys basketball camps, kutsher country club, for a beneifit game for Maurice Stokes. It take a very nice person to do that for anyone, and never no cost to me. Those experiences help prepare me for life, i never forgot him. To the Lake family, he was a very good man.

I knew Bennie at the Juvenile Evaluation Center. I am a retired Juvenile Court Counselor and Bennie worked with many of my probationers from Henderson County who were placed at JEC. He was a good friend, a wonderful counselor, and a marvelous role model for all the kids at the Center. I cherish my memories of working with Bennie. My prayers and thoughts are with you, his family. May God Bless you all.

Helen and I send our prayers and deepest sympathies. We have known Bennie Lee most of our lives. Helen lived across the street from him on Ora Street. Her brother, the late Rupert Ruff and Bennie were the best of friends. I met him when we were both students at Stephens-Lee. He was a great person and will be missed. May God bless you and your family. Our prayers are with you at this time.-- Helen and Selma Waters

Dear Robin - As a member of the Shaw University Family, I send my deepest sympathy to you and family.
Bennie was a fine basketball player at Shaw and an even better person. I was privileged to know him and to witness his well-deserved induction into the Shaw U. Athletic Hall of Fame. God bless you.

To the Bennie Lake Family: Bennie was a great friend to many people, especially to me and my family. He exemplifies what it means to be a "role model". His life and legacy here and around our nation will remember his smile as well as his concern and care for others. We share in your loss.
Our deepest sympathy.
